Life Perspective.
Do you ever sit back, take a pause, and consider what led you to where you are?
As a wife, mother of two, teacher, and someone constantly balancing the demands of everyday life - as most of us do - I often found myself putting my own dreams on the back burner.
Then my life changed in ways I never would have imagined.
My husband spent six months in the hospital and ultimately underwent a 20+ hour surgery to provide him with a lifesaving heart and liver transplant. As you could imagine, navigating this with little kids was incredibly challenging to say the least. Days became measured by doctor's rounds, test results, trips to the ICU, and small victories. During that time, I gained a completely different perspective on what truly matters.
One of the most difficult challenges I faced was watching him suffer from ICU delirium after transplant. His recovery was like nothing we had ever anticipated. It was grueling and terrible. In an effort to bring comfort and familiarity into his space, I covered the walls of his room with photographs of our family, our children, our memories, and the life waiting for him outside those hospital doors.
What began as a simple act of love and purpose became something much more important.
Those photographs told our story. They brought warmth into a sterile hospital room and served as a daily reminder that there was a life beyond the machines, medications, and uncertainty. And there was a ton of uncertainty.
In those moments, I truly understood the power of photography.
Photographs are more than images. They preserve memories, tell stories, and connect us to the people and experiences that shape our lives. They become priceless when we need them most.
That experience shifted my priorities and permanently changed the way I look at life. But not only that, the trauma that my family and I endured really provided me the courage to pursue a dream I had been putting off for far too long.
Fast forward four years. Whether I'm photographing an athlete leaving everything they have on the field, a family celebrating a milestone, or a simple candid moment, I walk into each job with a heart full of gratitude. I know firsthand how meaningful photographs can become. They capture stories, preserve connections, and freeze moments that can never be recreated.
My goal is not simply to take pictures. It's to create memories that families can cherish even when life gets overwhelming.
Because if life has taught me anything, it's that there is no time like the present to chase a dream, celebrate the people we love, and hold onto the moments that matter most.
